About EBC

Our History

In 1909 Redhill Baptist Church planted a mission hall for children's work in Earlswood. This hall became more and more self contained over the years and in 1987 we became a church in our own right - an amicable move as we retain our friendship with Redhill Baptist - and we became a member of the Baptist Union of Great Britain.

The present church building was literally built around the smaller, original, corrugated iron hall in 1978. The church interior was renovated in 2008. The church hall dates from 1997. Both buildings were sacrificial steps of faith for the church.

Our People

Everyone plays a part at Earlswood Baptist Church but here’s a few people for you to look out for.

  • Jonathan Hardwick BD(Hons)

    MINISTER

Jonathan joined Earlswood Baptist Church as our Minister in Training and stayed on as full time Newly Accredited Minister and he was ordained as Minister at a service on 3 September 2011.

  • Jon Bartlett

    SECRETARY

Jon has lived in Earlswood and worshipped at EBC for over 30 years.  He is married to Maxine and they have three grown-up children.  Jon spent 40 years as a civil engineer and travelled extensively for his work.  He admits to having too many hobbies and not enough spare time; they include model railways, reading and bird-watching.

  • Rachel Avery

    TREASURER

From attending Sunday School as a child, Rachel has grown up in the church and is now a part of the leadership team in the role as Treasurer.

Declaration of Principle

As a member of Baptists Together we subscribe to a Declaration of Principle which forms the basis of the Baptist Union:

1. That our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, God manifest in the flesh, is the sole and absolute authority in all matters pertaining to faith and practice, as revealed in the Holy Scriptures, and that each Church has liberty, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, to interpret and administer His laws.

2. That Christian Baptism is the immersion in water into the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, of those who have professed repentance towards God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ who 'died for our sins according to the Scriptures; was buried, and rose again the third day'.

3. That it is the duty of every disciple to bear personal witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to take part in the evangelisation of the world.

OUR VISION

To see God moving in power and revival in our church, in Earlswood and throughout our nation.

WHAT WE DO

We support all who worship here, both spiritually and practically, whilst believing that we have been placed at the heart of Earlswood to bless and support the local community and maintaining close working and worshipping links with other local churches of all denominations.

OUR COMMUNITY

We believe that God has called us to be a blessing to our community seeking to bring God's love and compassion to all.
